Our logo is inspired by the Kārearea, the New Zealand falcon  - Aotearoa’s only native falcon and one of just a handful of native birds of prey still in existence. The Kārearea is a symbol of strength, precision, and adaptability - qualities that resonate strongly with our mission and the needs of our Defence Force customers.​

The Kārearea is renowned for its versatile and highly effective hunting techniques. It uses a combination of aerial pursuit, rapid ground strikes, and tactical manoeuvres to capture its prey, whether in the air, over the sea or on the ground. These techniques are adapted to each situation, allowing the Kārearea to remain effective across diverse and challenging environments.​

This adaptability is at the heart of our ideology at EDGE Defence. Like the Kārearea:

The Kārearea's head plume would be worn by Māori warriors to be seen as fierce and reckless, like the falcon. The falcon was also seen as bold, assertive, and treacherous. The New Zealand falcon was observed by Māori for weather predictions, as its scream during fine weather foretold rain for the next day.

We have emobdied the falcon wing tip in our logo to reflect these values and capture its uniqueness. Its sharp, forward‑driving lines represent speed, agility, and a clear operational focus. The design connects us to New Zealand’s natural heritage while embodying our role in delivering innovative, mission‑critical solutions to help protect our way of life.
